Dates Updates
For those who are interested in attending the Rally for Reason/Keep Fear Alive event in Washington, DC on 10/30, here's some important things to note:
October 9th: Deadline for getting your name registered. If you're name isn't on the spreadsheet at: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0Apj_wGybzHTzdDdHbUc0WFo5elp2N3JQZmJOX1QwT2c&hl=en&output=html . Adding yourself is easy - either request access via the link, or email John Hummel at john.c.hummel@gmail.com to get added on. The most important thing right now is getting signed up with one of our volunteer drivers so you have your spot secured. There are plans to either find other drivers or use a rental car once spots are filled, so the faster your name is on, the fast we can know what to do.
Also, make sure you're signed up on the Tampa Convoy for Truthiness Google Group to get important updates!
If you are not registered by October 9th, we will assume you are not going!
October 20th: This is going to be the "soft deadline" for getting money turned in to our treasurer Craig Boisseau - if you're in the Google Groups you can get ahold of him! He accept Paypal and handing him the moneys. He's collecting for the *hotel stay* - gas money will be handled by the drivers of the particular car.
October 20th is also the date of the second Convoy for Truthiness meeting - location To Be Determined, but get signed up so we know you'll be there. This is where we'll make final car/hotel assignments, get money to the treasurer, and set pickup times/places.
October 29th: We're off! Probably very very very very very very early.

Well, I think I found the perfect hotel for those of us that wish to lodge. The Comfort Inn located in Springfield, VA is right off 95 and just under one mile from the Metro Blue Line station which is a good line to be on and has several stops around the mall.
The hotel gets 4 stars with many reviews on Google. They have twin double bed rooms with the option to add a portable bed to the room so up to 5 people are allowed to stay. The rate at this time is $89.00/night so say on average we split that 4 ways for 2 nights it's going to be $45-50 for both nights. They have free wi-fi and shuttle service to the Metro Station.
The Metro ride into DC is about 13 miles and will take 30-35 minutes and will cost $6.40/person (I'll look into round trip deals). The Metro will drop us off on either end of the mall and runs till 3am.
